Institutions: Ministry of Ayush | National Commission for Indian System of Medicine (NCISM)
The Ministry of Ayush has launched DRAVYA – Drug Repository and Ayurvedic Vastu Yantra Application, a digital platform that brings together traditional and modern information on India’s medicinal substances. Developed by the National Commission for Indian System of Medicine (NCISM), the portal’s first phase documents 100 key medicinal materials, with plans to expand coverage in future updates.
Powered by AI and data analytics, DRAVYA integrates research from classical Ayurvedic texts and modern scientific validation into a single searchable database. It connects to the Ayush Grid, enabling continuous data updates and cross-referencing. The platform also supports QR-code tagging for medicinal plant gardens, herbaria, and pharmacological collections to improve traceability and public access.
The launch marks a step toward digitising traditional medicine knowledge and aligning it with India’s broader health-tech ecosystem. By merging evidence from classical sources with modern data standards, DRAVYA strengthens research transparency, product standardisation, and innovation in Ayurveda and allied disciplines. It also complements the Ayush Grid, advancing India’s ambition to build an integrated, technology-driven framework for traditional healthcare delivery and pharmaceutical development.
