SDG 3: Good Health & Well-Being | SDG 5: Gender Equality
Institutions: Ministry of Health & Family Welfare | National Health Mission
Launched on 17 September 2025, the Swasth Nari Sashakt Parivar Abhiyaan has seen massive nationwide participation, with over 2.83 lakh health camps organized by 20 September and a total footfall of more than 76 lakh citizens. The campaign focuses on womenโs health, child health, and preventive screenings under a Jan Andolan model.
Key outcomes so far include:
37 lakh screened for hypertension and 35 lakh for diabetes.
Over 9 lakh women screened for breast cancer and 4.7 lakh for cervical cancer.
16 lakh oral cancer screenings conducted.
18 lakh antenatal check-ups and 51 lakh children vaccinated.
22 lakh screened for TB and 2.3 lakh for Sickle Cell Disease.
1.6 lakh blood donors registered, with 4.7 lakh new Ayushman Bharat/PM-JAY cards issued.
Beyond NHM facilities, AIIMS, medical colleges, INIs, and private institutions conducted 3,410 specialty health camps, benefiting 5.8 lakh citizens. Regional highlights include mega camps in Delhi, Gujarat, Jammu & Kashmir, the Northeast, Goa, Maharashtra, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, and Ladakh, ensuring outreach to urban, rural, and tribal communities.
The campaign demonstrates how large-scale preventive health drives, when coupled with community mobilisation, can address multiple health challenges simultaneouslyโranging from non-communicable diseases to maternal and child health. For India, this model illustrates how short-duration intensive campaigns can supplement routine health systems while raising public awareness.
Relevant Question for Policy Stakeholders:
How can India institutionalise the momentum of large health campaigns like this into sustainable, long-term improvements in preventive and primary healthcare?
