The State Fisheries Department of Kerala and the European Union jointly organised the Blue Tides Kerala–EU Conclave 2025, aiming to promote sustainable ocean-based economic development and establish Kerala as a strategic hub for global blue economy partnerships. The conference featured representatives from over 25 countries, more than 40 speakers, and over 750 delegates, facilitating alliances in startup innovation, skills development, policy collaboration, joint research, and investment. The agenda centred on areas including climate-resilient aquaculture, sustainable fisheries, value chain strengthening, academic collaborations, coastal tourism, women’s empowerment, and technology-driven innovations.
The conclave underscored Kerala’s blue economy potential through its 600 km coastline, fisheries sector, marine research, and renewable ocean energy, highlighting India’s commitment to balancing economic growth, environmental sustainability, and social inclusion using ocean-based resources. Discussions focused on integrating global expertise with Kerala’s local initiatives to foster a resilient, inclusive, and future-ready blue economy.
