India has been re-elected as Vice-Chairperson of the Asia-Pacific (Group IV) Bureau of the Conference of Parties (COP10) to the International Convention against Doping in Sport (ICADS) for 2025–27. The re-election took place at UNESCO headquarters in Paris during the Convention’s 20th anniversary session from 20–22 October 2025. It reflects India’s increasing leadership role in shaping global anti-doping governance and strengthening compliance mechanisms to protect athlete integrity.
The Indian delegation, led by the Secretary (Sports) and NADA Director General, contributed to negotiations on governance reforms, financing the Fund for the Elimination of Doping in Sport, and addressing emerging doping threats such as gene manipulation and traditional pharmacopoeia. India also championed Values Education through Sport (VETS) to embed ethics and integrity within youth sport ecosystems, from schools to elite performance structures.
Advancing India’s role in clean sport systems improves credibility in global competitions, strengthens sports integrity frameworks, and aligns with national ambitions in high-performance sport. Integrating VETS offers a pathway to institutionalise anti-doping awareness in grassroots sport development.
