Culture Ministry Reports Special Campaign 4.0 Achievements, Prepares for 5.0 Rollout

Institutions: Ministry of Culture
The Ministry of Culture has highlighted its performance under Special Campaign 4.0 (2024), noting significant progress in record management, pendency clearance, and cleanliness drives across its 43 organizations. The ministry undertook systematic file reviews, weeding of obsolete records, and disposal of pending references, contributing to improved efficiency and better space utilization. Building on this momentum, the ministry will join Special Campaign 5.0 (2β31 October 2025) with renewed focus on institutional cleanliness and transparency. Ahead of the campaign, the National Archives of India will conduct a Record Management training session on 29 September 2025 to strengthen processes for archival care, cataloguing, and digital transition.
Cultural administration depends heavily on archival integrity and efficient record systems. Linking nationwide cleanliness campaigns to the cultural sector underscores the need to institutionalize digital archives, transparent file management, and swachhata practices, ensuring that governance reforms extend into heritage institutions as well.
Relevant Question for Policy Stakeholders:
How can the Ministry of Culture leverage the momentum from Special Campaign 4.0 to permanently modernize record management systems across its institutions, including full digital transition of archives?
