At the 7th Australia-EU Joint Committee meeting under the 2022 Framework Agreement, both partners reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening cooperation across multiple domains. Discussions focused on advancing trade and economic ties, enhancing collaboration on renewable energy and the green transition, and ensuring resilient supply chains in critical minerals. The two sides also highlighted joint priorities in research, innovation, digital transformation, and sustainable development.
On global governance, Australia and the EU reiterated support for the rules-based multilateral order and endorsed reforms at the World Trade Organization. Security cooperation was also emphasised, with shared positions on current geopolitical challenges and commitments to strengthen humanitarian and development assistance in regions facing instability.
The joint statement underlines how comprehensive partnerships between middle- and high-income economies can shape trade rules, climate policy, and innovation systems. For India, this highlights the growing importance of aligning domestic policies with evolving global norms in climate action, trade governance, and strategic partnerships.
