WaveX Partners With T-Hub To Launch 10 Innovation Hubs For India’s Media-Tech Startups
SDG 9: Industry, Innovation & Infrastructure | SDG 8: Decent Work & Economic Growth
Institutions: Ministry of Information & Broadcasting
The Ministry of Information & Broadcasting has announced a strategic collaboration between its startup accelerator WaveX and T-Hub, the world’s largest startup hub, to strengthen India’s media-technology and creative-content ecosystem. The partnership will see the establishment of 10 innovation hubs across India, with T-Hub as the Anchor Institution, to nurture AVGC-XR (Animation, Visual Effects, Gaming, Comics & Extended Reality) startups.
The MoU was signed in the presence of Sanjay Jaju, Secretary, MIB, and Sanjay Kumar, Special Chief Secretary (IT & E&C, Telangana). WaveX, launched under the Ministry’s WAVES initiative, functions as a national accelerator for media, entertainment and immersive-tech entrepreneurs. At the WAVES Summit 2025, it engaged over 100 startups in pitching and networking with investors and policymakers.
T-Hub brings incubation experience from over 2,000 startups, acting as an “incubator of incubators” for programmes such as iDEX, AIC, and MATH. Through this collaboration, startups will gain structured mentorship, access to global markets, and shared R&D infrastructure, helping India’s creators transition from individuals to scalable businesses.
The WaveX–T-Hub partnership anchors a national framework for creative entrepreneurship, integrating India’s AVGC-XR Mission, Digital India Startup Hub, and Viksit Bharat @ 2047 goals. It signals MIB’s intent to link content creation, technology innovation, and skill development, building a globally competitive creative economy.
What is WaveX? → WaveX is the startup accelerator platform launched under the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting’s WAVES initiative. It nurtures innovation in media, entertainment and immersive technologies through hackathons, incubation, mentorship, and funding linkages, positioning India as a global hub for creative-tech entrepreneurship.
Relevant Question for Policy Stakeholders:
How can the WaveX model be extended to regional media clusters and state innovation missions to create a cohesive, inclusive ecosystem for creative and immersive-tech startups?
