The Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority (PFRDA) marked the Atal Pension Yojana (APY) Annual Felicitation Programme on 25 August 2025. As of 21 August 2025, APY achieved 8.11 crore gross enrolments, adding 1.17 crore new subscribers during FY 2024–25. Notably, 55% of subscribers are women, while 46% are in the 18–25 age group, highlighting the scheme’s role in expanding financial inclusion among young and female participants.
Assets Under Management (AUM) under APY crossed ₹48,000 crore, recording a CAGR of 9.12% since inception. The programme also felicitated banks, regional rural banks, cooperative banks, and state-level institutions for surpassing enrolment targets, reflecting a broad institutional push towards strengthening India’s old-age income security framework.
Relevant question for policy stakeholders: How can APY deepen long-term pension awareness and retention among youth and women to ensure sustainable financial security for future retirees?
