The Ministry of Labour & Employment has signed two major agreements with Porter and Gigin Technologies to boost job listings and matching on the National Career Service (NCS) portal. This partnership aims to connect India's youth with "skill-aligned" opportunities in the logistics and gig economy sectors.
Currently, the NCS portal is home to over 6 crore jobseekers and has already facilitated more than 9 crore vacancies since its launch.
Under these new agreements, Porter, a logistics tech giant, plans to generate roughly 6 lakh opportunities every year, targeting a total of 30 lakh jobs by 2030. Meanwhile, Gigin Technologies will use AI and "verification intelligence" to list up to 3 lakh authenticated jobs annually.
These partnerships will help bridge the skill gap by offering short-term training and soft-skills courses directly to registered candidates.
Key Growth & Collaboration Metrics
Portal Scale: NCS currently has 7 lakh active vacancies and 59 lakh registered establishments.
Porter’s Commitment: Creation of 6 lakh annual logistics and driving roles; 30 lakh total by 2030.
Gigin’s AI Edge: Annual delivery of 2-3 lakh verified listings and engagement with 1.5 lakh employers.
Platform Integration: The NCS portal is now linked with e-Migrate, SIDH, and My Bharat, creating a massive unified employment network.
Focus on Soft Skills: The Ministry has urged partners to develop short-duration courses to make jobseekers "industry-ready."
Verified Opportunities: The use of Gigin’s verification tech aims to eliminate fake job listings and build trust for first-time jobseekers.
What is the "National Career Service" (NCS)?
The National Career Service is a digital "one-stop-shop" that connects jobseekers with employers, career counsellors, and skill training providers. It works as a bridge because it doesn't just list jobs; it integrates data from different states and other government portals (like e-Migrate) into a single dashboard.
This allows a young person in a small town to see verified job openings in a logistics firm like Porter or a tech startup via Gigin without having to browse multiple websites. For the Ministry of Labour, the NCS is a primary tool to ensure that India’s labor market is transparent, inclusive, and ready for a digital-first economy.
Policy Relevance
Formalises Gig and Platform-Based Employment: Integration of jobs from Porter and Gigin brings gig and logistics roles into a structured, government-backed employment ecosystem.
Improves Job Matching Through Verified Listings: Use of AI-based verification reduces fraudulent postings and builds trust in digital labour platforms, especially for first-time jobseekers.
Addresses Skill Mismatch Through Integrated Training: Linking job listings with short-duration and soft-skills training supports better alignment between demand and workforce readiness.
Expands Access Through Platform Integration: Connecting NCS with e-Migrate and other portals enables wider geographic and sectoral access to jobs, including overseas opportunities.
Relevant Questions for Policy Stakeholders: How will the NCS ensure that algorithmic matching doesn't unintentionally exclude candidates from rural areas with less "digital footprints"?
