Institutions: Ministry of AYUSH
The National Homoeopathy Research Institute in Mental Health (NHRIMH), Kottayam, under the Central Council for Research in Homoeopathy (CCRH), Ministry of AYUSH, organised a two-day national conference (10–11 October 2025) to mark World Mental Health Day. The theme—“Access to Services: Mental Health in Catastrophes and Emergencies”—framed discussions on how integrative and evidence-based approaches can strengthen mental-health responses during disasters.
Sessions examined topics such as disaster-linked psychiatric crises, trauma and resilience, substance-use withdrawal, autism spectrum disorders, and post-traumatic stress. Researchers and postgraduate trainees presented studies on bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, depression, and obsessive-compulsive disorder, demonstrating growing research capacity in homoeopathic psychiatry.
Inaugurated by the Vice-Chancellor of Mahatma Gandhi University and addressed by Dr. Subhash Kaushik, Director-General of CCRH, the conference underscored the need to embed mental-health preparedness within disaster management and to develop validated integrative-care models.
The event highlights India’s effort to expand accessible, community-based mental-health care under crisis conditions, aligning with National Mental Health Programme goals and AYUSH’s emphasis on integrative health. Its focus on research-driven homoeopathic interventions reflects an emerging policy dialogue on complementary therapies within public mental-health frameworks.
What is NHRIMH and CCRH? → The National Homoeopathy Research Institute in Mental Health (NHRIMH) is India’s apex centre for research in homoeopathic psychiatry. It functions under the Central Council for Research in Homoeopathy (CCRH), the statutory research body of the Ministry of AYUSH, mandated to promote, coordinate, and evaluate scientific research in homoeopathy nationwide.
