SDG 9: Industry, Innovation & Infrastructure | SDG 12: Responsible Consumption & Production
Institutions: Ministry of Coal | Coal India Limited & Private Coal Producers
The Ministry of Coal is set to launch the Koyla Shakti – Smart Coal Analytics Dashboard, a unified digital platform for real-time monitoring and analysis of coal-sector operations. The dashboard will integrate data from coal producers (public and private), central and state agencies, railways, power and logistics departments to provide live visibility on coal production, demand, dispatch, and supply-chain movement.
The launch, scheduled for 29 October 2025 in New Delhi, underscores the government’s push for digital governance and operational transparency in the coal sector. The system aims to facilitate data-driven decision-making, optimise logistics, and enhance coordination across multiple stakeholders, including port authorities and private terminals.
This initiative strengthens the structural backbone of India’s energy-mining ecosystem by leveraging analytics and real-time data. It aligns with India’s efforts under Atmanirbhar Bharat and PM-Koyla MahaNiti to improve efficiency, reduce wastage, and ensure secure and sustainable coal supply for the power, steel and cement sectors.
Relevant Question for Policy Stakeholders:
How will state coal departments, rail and port logistics arms, and private miners adopt and integrate dashboard outputs into on-ground systems to ensure the promised gains in transparency and efficiency?
