A Large Share of the Infrastructure Pipeline Is Advancing Towards Completion

The June 2026 PAIMANA Flash Report shows continued progress across India's Central Sector infrastructure programme. More than half of the revised project cost has already been incurred, while 709 projects have crossed 80% physical completion, indicating that a substantial share of the infrastructure pipeline is moving towards commissioning even as new projects continue to enter implementation.

Transport Continues to Anchor Public Infrastructure Investment

Transport & Logistics remains the largest infrastructure segment monitored through PAIMANA, accounting for nearly three-quarters of all projects and more than half of the total revised project cost. Energy is the second-largest investment area, while Communication, Water & Sanitation and Social Infrastructure projects demonstrate that public investment is also expanding across essential services and productive infrastructure.

PAIMANA Is Evolving into an Integrated Infrastructure Monitoring System

Beyond tracking projects, PAIMANA is strengthening digital infrastructure governance. Nearly 70% of project information is now integrated through APIs, improving the timeliness and consistency of reporting across ministries. The addition of new projects and regular Flash Reports enables continuous monitoring of implementation, expenditureand physical progress through a common national platform.

What Is PAIMANA?

PAIMANA (Project Assessment, Infrastructure Monitoring & Analytics for Nation-building) is MoSPI's digital platform for monitoring Central Sector infrastructure projects costing ₹150 crore and above. It consolidates project-level information across ministries, tracks physical and financial progress, and supports data-driven infrastructure governance through standardised reporting and digital monitoring.

Policy Relevance

  • Execution is becoming as important as project approval. Continuous monitoring of expenditure and physical progress can help identify implementation delays early and improve the delivery of large public infrastructure programmes.

  • Transport continues to shape India's capital investment strategy. Its dominance within the project pipeline reflects the continued policy emphasis on connectivity as a driver of economic growth and regional integration.

  • Digital reporting is changing infrastructure governance. Expanding API-based data integration reduces manual reporting, improves data consistency and enables more timely review of projects across ministries.

  • PAIMANA's monitoring architecture is becoming more comprehensive. The earlier quarterly PAIMANA Performance Dashboard expanded the platform to 165 infrastructure performance indicators with sector-wise trend analysis. This Flash Report complements that initiative by tracking project-level implementation, expenditure and physical progress. Together, the two releases illustrate MoSPI's move towards an integrated, evidence-based system for monitoring both infrastructure outcomes and project execution.
