India–Netherlands Expand Agriculture Partnership; Scale Centres of Excellence and Circular Farming Projects
SDG 2: Zero Hunger | SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals
Institutions: Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare | Department of Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare
India and the Netherlands have agreed to expand bilateral agricultural cooperation, building on established Centres of Excellence (CoEs) that support high-quality planting material, protected cultivation, and farmer-training programmes. The decision follows the 8th India–Netherlands Joint Working Group on Agriculture meeting held in New Delhi on 31 October 2025.
Key Highlights
Expansion of Centres of Excellence across more states and horticulture sub-sectors
Focus areas include seeds, greenhouse technology, food processing, animal husbandry, dairy, and circular agriculture
Review of existing CoEs’ impact on nursery development, seed quality, and farmer training
Emphasis on scaling climate-smart and resource-efficient farming models
Participation from MoA&FW, MoFPI, DAHD, and FSSAI alongside Dutch Ministry of Agriculture
The Netherlands is a global leader in high-tech agriculture and protected cultivation, and the partnership aims to transfer advanced horticulture, dairy, and post-harvest technologies to Indian smallholders, strengthening value chains and improving farmer incomes.
