Institutions: Ministry of Ayush
The Ministry of Ayush, through the Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Sciences (CCRAS), has launched ‘Desh Ka Swasthya Parikshan’, a nationwide campaign promoting preventive health awareness and self-assessment using Ayurveda-based diagnostic principles. Announced during the 10th Ayurveda Day 2025 in Goa, the initiative will be implemented through CCRAS institutes, Ayurveda teaching colleges under the National Commission for Indian System of Medicine (NCISM), and partner centres of the National Ayush Mission.
A core feature is the CCRAS Swasthya Assessment Scale: a digital questionnaire enabling citizens to evaluate health parameters such as dosha balance, diet, sleep, and stress, and to receive personalised lifestyle guidance grounded in Ayurvedic theory.
The campaign reflects a preventive-first approach within India’s health policy, positioning Ayurveda as a community-level tool for early risk detection and lifestyle modification. It aligns with national goals for integrative healthcare, Ayushman Bharat, and evidence-based traditional-medicine outreach.
Relevant Question for Policy Stakeholders:
How can India scientifically validate and scale Ayurvedic self-assessment tools for inclusion in national preventive-health programmes?
