Government Launches Vigilance Awareness Week 2025 To Strengthen Institutional Integrity
SDG 16: Peace, Justice & Strong Institutions
Institutions: Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances & Pensions | Ministry of Health & Family Welfare
The Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) under the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances & Pensions has launched Vigilance Awareness Week 2025 from 27 October to 2 November 2025, themed “Vigilance: Our Shared Responsibility”. The initiative emphasises preventive vigilance and collective responsibility for integrity in public administration.
This campaign is part of a three-month nationwide vigilance drive from 18 August to 17 November 2025, with specific mandates for all Central Ministries and Departments across five focus areas:
• Pending complaint disposal
• Pending case disposal
• Capacity-building programmes
• Asset management
• Digital initiatives
Additionally, the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare organised a pledge-taking ceremony on 27 October 2025, highlighting vigilance as an institutional habit and prioritising simple checklists and continuous training to improve compliance and accountability.
The initiative reinforces India’s broader governance reforms to improve transparency, accountability and efficiency in public-service delivery, complementing efforts under Digital India, e-office adoption, and grievance-redressal improvement systems.
Relevant Question for Policy Stakeholders: How will progress under the five focus areas be monitored and sustained beyond November to ensure lasting behavioural change across ministries and down to frontline offices?
