Defence Ministry Launches New Portals to Streamline Exports and Support Indian Manufacturers
SDG 9: Industry, Innovation & Infrastructure | SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals
Institutions: Ministry of Defence
The Ministry of Defence (MoD) has launched two new digital initiatives: Defence Exim Portal and Srijan DEEP (Defence Establishments and Entrepreneurs Platform), during the National Conference on Opportunities in Defence Manufacturing in the Country held at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi. The conference, convened by the Department of Defence Production, brought together state governments, industry leaders, and policymakers to align industrial policy and infrastructure with Indiaβs self-reliance goals in defence manufacturing.
The Defence Exim Portal will streamline export-import authorisations in defence trade, reducing procedural delays and enhancing transparency. Srijan DEEP aggregates indigenous defence products and capacities, fostering collaboration between public and private sectors across states. Alongside these launches, the MoD will also release two key publications-Aerospace & Defence Sector Policy Compendium of States and UTs and an iDEX Coffee Table Book titled βShared Horizons of Innovation.β
Together, these initiatives mark a step toward a digitally networked defence ecosystem that integrates national and state-level manufacturing policies. They aim to boost ease of doing business, strengthen supply-chain visibility, and expand defence exports, reinforcing Indiaβs vision of Aatmanirbhar Bharat in strategic sectors.
Relevant Question for Policy Stakeholders:
How can India leverage Srijan DEEP and the Defence Exim Portal to create a unified, data-driven pipeline linking state-level manufacturers with global defence markets?
