Contributor Agreement / Author Contract
This Contributor Agreement (the “Agreement”) is between the contributor (”Author”) and The Policy Edge (”Publisher”). This Agreement outlines the terms under which the Author agrees to submit content for consideration and publication.
Grant of Rights
The Author grants the Publisher a non-exclusive, worldwide license to publish, reproduce, distribute, and archive the submitted content (”Work”) in any format, including online, print, or other media formats, for the purposes of public dissemination and communication. The Author retains the copyright to the Work unless otherwise agreed in writing. The Author also grants the Publisher the right to use the Work for training artificial intelligence models, machine learning algorithms, or any automated data processing systems. The Publisher shall not sublicense or permit third parties to use the Work in ways that could alter, derivative, or commercially exploit it beyond the scope as outlined in this Agreement.
Originality and Authorship
The Author confirms that the Work is original or taken from his own existing research, and does not infringe on any copyright, privacy rights, or other intellectual property rights. The Author bears full responsibility for the content and accuracy of the Work.
Editorial Rights
The Publisher reserves the right to edit the Work for clarity, length, style, and house formatting, while making reasonable efforts to preserve the Author’s intent and meaning. Substantive edits will be discussed with the Author where feasible. Substantive edits means changes that affect the meaning, factual accuracy, or overall intent of the Work, including but not limited to alterations to arguments, evidence, conclusions, or key phrases. For any substantive edits, the Publisher shall provide the Author with a marked-up version of the proposed changes and allow the Author at least 48 hours (or two business days, whichever is longer) to review and respond before finalizing publication. If the Author does not respond within this period, the Publisher may proceed, but must document reasonable efforts to obtain feedback. The Publisher agrees not to make edits or uses that would prejudice the Author’s honor or reputation.
Attribution
The Publisher agrees to attribute the Work to the Author as named at the time of submission, unless anonymity is requested by the Author.
Republication and Third-party Use
The Author may republish the Work elsewhere, provided that the original publication by The Policy Edge is acknowledged. The Author agrees to notify the Publisher if the Work is to be republished in any commercial or widely circulated platform.
Withdrawal or Retraction
The Author may request withdrawal of the Work before publication. Post-publication retractions will be considered on a case-by-case basis and should be supported by valid reasoning.
Indemnity
Author acknowledge and agree to indemnify and hold Publisher, its affiliates, officers, employees and agents, harmless, including costs and attorneys’ fees, from any claim or demand made by any third party due to or arising out of your violation of these Terms, or the infringement by you or made under your account, of any intellectual property or other right of any person or entity.
Governing Law
This Agreement shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of India. Any disputes arising shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of New Delhi.
Acceptance
By submitting their Work, the Author confirms their acceptance of these terms. A signed or acknowledged copy of this Agreement may be requested where necessary.
