The Minister argued that India’s expanding digital connectivity creates an opportunity for premier institutions to reach learners across the country through smartphones, laptops and other connected devices without compromising assessment standards.


Beyond Online Delivery

Alongside the programme launch, the Minister outlined four suggestions to strengthen its long-term design:

  • regular faculty interactions and regional student meet-ups within the hybrid model;

  • greater emphasis on communication, teamwork and other professional skills alongside technology;

  • experiential learning through visits to factories, ports and industrial clusters; and

  • partnerships with Indian and international institutions, supported by credit transfer arrangements under the NEP and expanded research opportunities.

Although these recommendations are not part of the programme’s formal design, they indicate the Government’s preferred direction for future hybrid management education.


Digital Education and Workforce Readiness

The announcement reflects a broader policy emphasis on using digital technologies to expand access to higher education while preparing students for a changing labour market shaped by artificial intelligence, advanced manufacturing and global value chains. The Minister linked the programme to India’s wider economic ambitions, arguing that flexible, technology-enabled management education can help prepare graduates for emerging opportunities created by industrial growth and new trade partnerships.
