SDG 3: Good Health & Well-Being | SDG 13: Climate Action
Institutions: Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change
The WWF-India EIACP Programme Centre, supported by the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change and in collaboration with Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM), conducted over 25 awareness programmes across Delhi between June and August 2025 under the campaign βBreath of Change β Clean Air, Blue Skies.β These initiatives engaged more than 200,000 citizens, including students, resident welfare associations, commuters, and local communities in pollution hotspots such as Narela, Bawana, Mundka, Jahangir Puri, Vivek Vihar, Rohini, RK Puram, Okhla, and Anand Vihar. Activities included screenings of the Mission LiFE documentary, tree plantation drives under Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam 2.0, carbon footprint surveys, app demonstrations (SAMEER), quizzes, and exhibitions promoting solar power and waste-to-wealth innovations.
This initiative strengthens public awareness as a core pillar of air quality management, complements regulatory action by CAQM, and demonstrates how community engagement can help shift behaviours and build local ownership of pollution control efforts. Communicating in hotspots and involving RWAs and schools helps make air quality policy more responsive and locally effective.
Relevant Question for Policy Stakeholders: What mechanisms can ensure that awareness campaigns are integrated with long-term behavioural change programmes and supported by sustained monitoring of air quality outcomes in urban hotspots?
