The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) India, in partnership with the Government of Rajasthan, has released Beyond the Veil: Stories of Autonomy and Choice (Sept 2025). The compendium captures ground-level narratives from Udaipur and Sawai Madhopur under the “My Rights, My Choices” programme, supported by Bayer AG. It highlights how ASHAs, ANMs and block coordinators are enabling women and families to access contraceptives, counselling, and digital health tools.
Notable outcomes include rising acceptance of injectables like Antara SC (subcutaneous) since 2025, uptake of subdermal implants, and reduction of stock-outs under the Family Planning Logistics Management Information System (FP-LMIS). For example, FP-LMIS operationalisation in Sawai Madhopur improved from 76% in 2023–24 to 100% in 2024–25 at the Sub-Centre level, while Udaipur saw ASHA-level usage rise from 30% to 63%.
The findings underscore the importance of integrating community-based workers into reproductive health delivery, in line with National Health Mission reforms. Strengthening supply chains and promoting shared responsibility in family planning directly advance India’s commitments under ICPD (1994) and SDG 3 & 5 targets.
What is FP-LMIS? → The Family Planning Logistics Management Information System is a digital platform launched in 2017 by the Government of India to track contraceptive stocks and distribution up to the ASHA level, reducing stock-outs and ensuring last-mile delivery.
