UNDP/UN Women Gender Justice Platform Annual Report 2024 – Key Results and Lessons
SDG 5: Gender Equality | SDG 16: Peace, Justice & Strong Institutions
Institutions: Ministry of Women & Child Development | Ministry of Law & Justice
On 15 September 2025, UNDP and UN Women released the Gender Justice Platform Annual Report 2024, presenting program results from 45+ countries where the Platform works to improve women’s access to justice. The report shows that in 2024 alone, around 79,500 women and girls accessed formal justice services, and over 122,000 people (including 76,400+ women) benefitted from legal awareness and representation. It also highlights reforms to discriminatory laws, stronger transitional justice for survivors of conflict-related sexual violence, and progress in increasing women’s representation in judicial systems.
For India, the report underscores the importance of not only having legal frameworks for gender justice but also ensuring effective access, legal awareness, and survivor-centered institutions. It can draw lessons on integrating legal aid, informal justice mechanisms, and gender-sensitive judicial reforms.
