India’s telecom subscriber base rose to 1,218.36 million in June 2025, up 1.46% from the previous quarter. Urban tele-density reached 133.56%, while rural lagged at 59.43%. Reliance Jio (498.06 million) and Bharti Airtel (403.11 million) consolidated their dominance, while Vodafone Idea and BSNL lost ground.
The internet subscriber base crossed the 1 billion mark (1002.85 million), driven by wireless connections (958.14 million). Broadband users surged 3.77% in the quarter, while narrowband shrank further. Average monthly data consumption per wireless user reached 24 GB, with revenue realisation per GB at just ₹8.51.
Financially, sector revenues showed mixed trends: Gross Revenue fell 1.63% to ₹96,646 crore, but Adjusted Gross Revenue grew 2.65%, reflecting better efficiency in collections.
