PM Launches ₹1.22 Lakh Crore Viksit Bharat Projects for Energy, Water and Infrastructure in Rajasthan
SDG 7: Affordable & Clean Energy | SDG 9: Industry, Innovation & Infrastructure
Institutions: Ministry of Power | Ministry of New & Renewable Energy | Government of Rajasthan
Prime Minister inaugurated and laid foundation stones for development works worth over ₹1,22,100 crore in Banswara, Rajasthan, under the Viksit Bharat @2047 programme. The investments are aimed at transforming Rajasthan into a major hub for clean energy generation, water resource management, and infrastructure growth.
Key components include:
A ₹42,000 crore nuclear power project (4 × 700 MW reactors) under Anushakti Vidhyut Nigam Ltd (ASHVINI).
₹19,210 crore renewable energy projects (solar parks, wind, hybrid plants).
₹13,180 crore inter-state transmission corridors connecting Rajasthan with demand centres like Madhya Pradesh.
₹20,830 crore irrigation and drinking water projects, including dams and supply schemes.
Rural feeder solarisation (3,517 MW) under PM-KUSUM, plus road, hospital, and digital infrastructure upgrades.
By combining nuclear, renewable, and transmission investments with water security measures, the package strengthens India’s energy security, decarbonisation efforts, and inter-state power trading capacity. For Rajasthan, it positions the state as a national energy exporter; for neighbouring states, it improves access to reliable, clean power.
Relevant Question for Policy Stakeholders:
How can India ensure that large-scale energy hubs like Rajasthan balance export commitments with local development priorities, especially water use and community access to clean power?
