Outreach Campaign Angikaar 2025 Launched to Accelerate Implementation of PMAY-U 2.0
SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities | SDG 1: No Poverty
Institutions: Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs
The Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs has launched Angikaar 2025, a two-month nationwide outreach campaign under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana β Urban 2.0 (PMAY-U 2.0). Running from 4 September to 31 October 2025, the campaign aims to enhance last-mile delivery through door-to-door awareness across 5,000+ Urban Local Bodies. Its core objectives include fast-tracking verification of applications, expediting completion of sanctioned houses, and informing beneficiaries about the Credit Risk Guarantee Fund Trust for Low Income Housing (CRGFTLIH) scheme. It will also facilitate convergence with other government initiatives, such as extending benefits of PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana.
As part of the campaign, PMAY-U Awas Diwas will be celebrated on 17 September 2025, alongside anchor events like βPM Awas Mela β Shehriβ at district and municipal levels. These initiatives aim to mobilise communities, improve access to credit, and accelerate delivery of pucca houses to urban households. With 94.11 lakh houses already completed under PMAY-U, Angikaar 2025 is positioned to close the gap towards universal housing coverage.
Relevant question for policy stakeholders: How can last-mile outreach models like Angikaar 2025 be optimized to sustain housing delivery momentum and improve uptake among vulnerable urban population?
