The National Financial Reporting Authority (NFRA) has announced a series of outreach programmes titled βCreating a Better Financial Reporting Worldβ, to be held across multiple Indian cities. The first event is set for 26 September 2025 in Hyderabad, followed by Indore on 6 October and others later in the year. These workshops will convene auditors, professional bodies, academics, and experts to solicit feedback, articulate expectations, build technical skill, and promote adoption of best practices in auditing-especially for Public Interest Entity (PIE) audits. Alongside, NFRA will roll out its inaugural Audit Firms Survey 2025, intended to collect insights to refine its role, responsibilities, and engagement strategies.
Through proactive stakeholder engagement and feedback mechanisms, NFRA is signalling a shift from top-down regulation to collaborative quality enhancement in auditing. By elevating audit practices-especially for high-impact PIEs-the initiative strengthens financial accountability, investor trust, and the integrity of Indiaβs corporate reporting ecosystem.
Relevant Question for Policy Stakeholders: How can NFRA institutionalise continuous engagement and capacity-building with audit professionals-especially smaller firms-to sustainably improve audit standards without stifling innovation or overburdening compliance?
