Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports Launches Seva Pakhwada to Engage Youth in Service
SDG 11: Sustainable Cities & Communities | SDG 16: Peace, Justice & Strong Institutions
Institutions: Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports
On 17 September 2025, the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports (MYAS) launched a fortnight-long event called Seva Pakhwada, running until 2 October (Gandhi Jayanti). The drive is part of the wider Viksit Bharat@2047 vision. Key components include Viksit Bharat Yuva Connect, Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat, and the Viksit Bharat Run (Global) in 125 international cities. Activities will cover civic engagement, service, awareness campaigns on drug-free living, fitness drives, cultural programs, and pledges tied to youth commitment to nation building.
Seva Pakhwada mobilises youth as active agents of development and civic responsibility, aligning education, service, and national purpose. The timing and scope can strengthen youth engagement mechanisms and support soft infrastructure in governance.
Relevant Question for Policy Stakeholders:
How can the Centre and state governments integrate Seva Pakhwada outcomes into longer-term youth policy frameworks and institutional mechanisms?
