The Indian Coast Guard Ship (ICGS Sachet) made a port call at Maputo, Mozambique on 11 October 2025, carrying 20 metric tonnes of Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) supplies including essential medicines and health material. The visit forms part of India’s outreach to strengthen bilateral maritime cooperation, expand regional preparedness for pollution control, search and rescue, and disaster response, and demonstrate solidarity under the SAGAR (Security and Growth for All in the Region) vision.
Beyond official exchanges, the Indian crew and cadets will participate in community and environmental activities such as beach clean-ups and marine-awareness drives aligned with India’s Puneet Sagar Abhiyan, reflecting an emphasis on ocean health and shared responsibility.
This deployment combines strategic diplomacy and disaster relief, projecting India’s role as a reliable security and development partner in the Indian Ocean. By integrating humanitarian outreach with maritime training, it reinforces regional capacity-building and aligns with India’s broader Indo-Pacific partnership agenda.
What is SAGAR? → SAGAR (Security and Growth for All in the Region) is India’s maritime vision to promote regional stability, sustainable development, and cooperative security across the Indian Ocean. It combines naval diplomacy, humanitarian outreach, and capacity building to strengthen partnerships with coastal and island nations.
