The Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB), under the Ministry of Civil Aviation, will host the annual Asia Pacific Accident Investigation Group (APAC-AIG) meeting and workshop from 28-31 October 2025, marking the first-time India is the host country. Around 90 aircraft accident investigators from Asia-Pacific states and the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) are expected to participate.
Discussions and sessions will cover βprocesses and reportingβ for aircraft incident investigations, with the goal of strengthening regional cooperation, expertise-sharing, and investigation capacity in the Asia-Pacific aviation community.
By hosting this event, India positions itself as a regional hub for aviation-safety cooperation, enhancing its profile in global aviation governance, and accelerating capacity-building in critical safety infrastructure.
What is the APAC-AIG?β A working group under ICAO that brings together accident investigation authorities across the Asia-Pacific region to collaborate on investigation best-practices, incident reporting standards and technical training.
Relevant Question for Policy Stakeholders:
What follow-up mechanisms will India deploy to translate the workshopβs discussions into sustained capacity enhancements and improved aviation-safety outcomes?
