India and Singapore Deepen Cooperation in Green Growth, Digitalisation and Skilling
SDG 8: Decent Work & Economic Growth | SDG 9: Industry, Innovation & Infrastructure
Institutions: Ministry of Commerce & Industry | Ministry of External Affairs
On 04 October 2025, the India–Singapore @60: Partnership for Growth & Engagement business session in Singapore marked six decades of diplomatic relations and outlined a fresh phase of bilateral cooperation. The session identified green energy, digitalisation, healthcare, advanced manufacturing, sustainability, infrastructure, and skills development as joint priority areas. Senior executives from Sembcorp, Keppel, Blackstone, TPG, and Schneider Electric discussed investment and technology collaborations in renewables, automation, industrial parks, and real-estate innovation.
The dialogue builds on the Minister’s current visit to Singapore, which focused on MRO (Maintenance, Repair & Overhaul) sector development and the proposal for an India–Singapore Skilling Centre for MRO professionals. Together, the two engagements expand the partnership from trade and investment toward integrated cooperation in sustainability, skills, and innovation ecosystems.
These developments reflect India’s use of economic diplomacy as an instrument of industrial policy-leveraging trusted partners like Singapore to accelerate clean-tech transitions, logistics efficiency, and workforce readiness. The event also signals India’s shift toward mission-based bilateralism, where commercial discussions directly link to sectoral outcomes.
What is the @60 Business Session? → A flagship diplomatic-business forum celebrating 60 years of India–Singapore ties, designed to translate bilateral goodwill into sector-specific projects and partnerships. It matters because it elevates engagement from dialogue to co-investment in new-generation industries.
Relevant Question for Policy Stakeholders: How can India ensure that emerging bilateral commitments in green energy, digital infrastructure, and skilling are integrated into state-level investment frameworks and not confined to central-level declarations?
