The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) co-hosted the International Telecommunication Union’s (ITU) “AI for Good – Impact India” Conference at the India Mobile Congress (IMC) 2025 in New Delhi. The event served as a global platform to explore Artificial Intelligence (AI)’s transformative applications in achieving sustainable development goals and addressing national priorities such as healthcare and climate resilience, in line with India’s ambitious technology vision.
Secretary Telecom, Dr. Neeraj Mittal, emphasized the dual nature of AI, cautioning against risks like deepfakes, voice cloning, and cybersecurity threats (”AI for Bad”). Key policy discussions centered on establishing effective AI governance, ethical frameworks, risk management, and the necessity of international collaboration to define global AI standards.
The event highlights India’s proactive global leadership in shaping responsible AI standards and demonstrates a national commitment to balancing rapid AI innovation with robust ethical and cybersecurity governance frameworks.
