Commerce Ministry Launches LEAPS 2025 Awards to Promote Innovation and Efficiency in India’s Logistics Sector
SDG 9: Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure | SDG 12: Responsible Consumption & Production
Institutions: Ministry of Commerce and Industry
The Ministry of Commerce and Industry has launched LEAPS 2025—the Logistics Excellence, Advancement and Performance Shield—to recognise best practices and innovation across India’s logistics value chain.
Implemented by Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), LEAPS 2025 will serve as a national benchmarking platform to identify and reward outstanding performance among logistics service providers, multimodal operators, warehouses, ports, airports, startups, and academic institutions. The programme is aligned with the National Logistics Policy (NLP) and supports India’s goal of reducing logistics cost to 8–9 percent of GDP.
The awards cover 13 categories, including Green Logistics Champion, Digital Transformation Leader, and Regional Infrastructure Performer. Entries are open until 15 November 2025.
A key feature of LEAPS 2025 is its focus on sustainability, ESG standards, and public–private collaboration. It aims to encourage data-driven operations, multimodal integration, and low-carbon supply-chain practices—reflecting the government’s broader “Green GatiShakti” vision.
LEAPS 2025 strengthens India’s logistics ecosystem by promoting innovation, competitiveness, and transparency. By recognising operational excellence, it incentivises states, industries, and MSMEs to adopt digital and sustainable solutions, aligning logistics modernisation with Make in India and Viksit Bharat goals.
Relevant Question for Policy Stakeholders: How can recognition mechanisms like LEAPS 2025 translate into continuous capacity upgrades and measurable reduction in logistics costs across states?
