The Africa Climate Summit 2025, co-convened by Ethiopia and the African Union Commission, emphasized accelerating global climate solutions through enhanced financing for Africaβs resilient and green development. The summit highlighted the crucial role of strengthening meteorological and hydrological services to improve climate intelligence and resilience.
A key proposal was the African Climate Innovation Compact, aiming to deliver 1,000 climate solutions by 2030 through partnerships across academia, research, startups, and communities, supported by blended finance targeting $50 billion annually.
The summit also underscored the importance of expanding early warning systems, improving data sharing, and adopting technologies like artificial intelligence to enhance forecasting capabilities and protect vulnerable populations.
