SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth | SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals
Institutions: Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports | Ministry of Education
The Asian Development Bank (ADB) emphasizes that Asia-Pacificβs 1.2 billion young people are critical to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals. Yet, their voices remain marginal in development policy and financing discussions. In a dialogue co-hosted with the Islamic Development Bank on International Youth Day 2025, youth advocates urged multilateral development banks to engage them through advisory structures, co-created projects, and direct financing channels.
ADB highlights three key insights from the dialogue: Youth need quality green and digital jobs, especially for marginalized groups. Institutional mechanisms like youth advisory platforms and participatory project co-creation can amplify local youth impact. Financing must reach grassroots youth initiatives to effectively localize SDG agendas.
Relevant question for policy stakeholders: How can India institutionalize youth advisory structures and direct funding models to enable young voices to lead grassroots SDG implementation and financing at the local level?
