UN Women Leads Global Push at HLPF 2025 to Place Rights and Empowerment Of Women and Girls at The Heart of Sustainable Development
SDG 5: Gender Equality
SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals
Institutions: Ministry of Women and Child Development; Ministry of External Affairs
UN Women will spearhead the 2025 High-Level Political Forum (HLPF), strategically driving the agenda to center the rights and empowerment of all women and girls within sustainable development frameworks.
Through convening feminist leaders, governments, and partners, the event will spotlight bold reforms and targeted investments necessary to accelerate this agenda. The initiative aims to elevate gender equality to a structural priority in policymaking and development discourse, acknowledging that without prioritizing womenβs empowerment, progress across the Sustainable Development Goals remains incomplete.
Relevant question for policy stakeholders: How can India effectively integrate gender empowerment into its national SDG implementation framework through multi-stakeholder platforms, and leveraging the UN Women-led HLPF model, to align reforms, investments, and policy strategies for women and girls?
