Institutions: Ministry of Finance
SEBI, in collaboration with the Ministry of Panchayati Raj launched a nation-wide training initiative for Block Level Panchayat representatives. The main aim of this is to promote financial literacy and investor education at grassroots level, empowering representatives with knowledge to educate rural communities across India.
The first training was held at Yashwantrao Chavan Academy of Development Administration (YASHADA) in Pune, Maharashtra wherein 100 Sarpanch and Block-level representatives from various districts of Maharashtra attended. The session focused on equipping elected block-level representatives with essential knowledge on financial planning, savings, investments, safeguarding against fraudulent schemes, awareness about the securities market ecosystem and available investment avenues in regulated space.
Relevant question for policy stakeholders: How can financial literacy programs for Panchayati Raj Institutions be institutionalized to create a sustainable and scalable model for investor education in rural India?
