The Reserve Bank of India, in collaboration with banks, is conducting a nationwide re-KYC and financial inclusion saturation campaign across Gram Panchayats from July to September 2025. These camps aim to update KYC details, promote awareness on unclaimed deposits, redress grievances, and expand coverage of government financial inclusion schemes. As of August 11, over 1.41 lakh camps have been held, completing re-KYC for more than 35 lakh accounts. To reinforce momentum, RBI Governor Shri Sanjay Malhotra and Deputy Governors visited camps in Gujarat, Jharkhand, and Tamil Nadu, emphasizing the importance of community-level engagement, customer responsibility in KYC compliance, and enrollment in social security schemes.
The initiative reflects the RBI-Government push for last-mile financial inclusion, ensuring uninterrupted access to safe banking services while strengthening trust between citizens, banks, and regulatory authorities.
Relevant question for policy stakeholders: How can existing frameworks be optimized to ensure effective implementation, monitoring, and community engagement in Financial Inclusion campaigns at the grassroots level, particularly focusing on re-KYC and grievance redressal mechanisms?
