Institution: Reserve Bank of India | Ministry of Finance
The RBI has unveiled its November 2025 rounds of three major surveys—covering inflation expectations of households, rural consumer confidence and urban consumer confidence—to strengthen data-driven policy decisions.
Key Details
Inflation Expectations Survey of Households (IESH) launched on 31 October 2025; covers 19 major cities and gathers both qualitative and quantitative data on price expectations for 3-month and 1-year horizons.
Rural Consumer Confidence Survey (RCCS) also initiated on 31 October 2025; spans 31 states/UTs covering rural and semi-urban households, capturing their sentiment on economy, employment, incomes and spending.
Urban Consumer Confidence Survey (UCCS) launched same day, covering 19 cities and gauging urban households’ views on the economic situation, employment and price levels.
These surveys will provide RBI with real-time, granular insights into consumer sentiment, inflation expectations and economic behaviour across rural and urban India—critical inputs for timely and calibrated monetary-policy decisions.
Relevant Question for Policy Stakeholders:
What steps can ensure these surveys capture diverse household realities and feed quickly into interest-rate and liquidity decisions?
