MoSPI: All India Debt & Investment Survey 2026-27 and Agricultural Households Assessment Announced
SDG 1: No Poverty | SDG 2: Zero Hunger
Institutions: Ministry of Statistics & Programme Implementation
The Ministry of Statistics & Programme Implementation (MoSPI) has announced the upcoming All India Debt and Investment Survey (AIDIS) & Situation Assessment Survey (SAS) of Agricultural Households for the period July 2026 to June 2027. These surveys will collect detailed data on farmer indebtedness, investment in agricultural assets, income sources, expenditure patterns, and conditions of agricultural households.
The combined AIDIS & SAS results will provide fresh, comprehensive evidence to shape agricultural credit policy, crop insurance design, debt relief programs, and the targeting of subsidy or extension services. Timely and disaggregated data could help both central and state governments reduce vulnerability of small and marginal farmers and inform risk-mitigation strategies around climate and market shocks.
Relevant question for policy stakeholders: How can states and central ministries ensure that the upcoming AIDIS & SAS surveys are designed to enable actionable insights at district/tehsil level for supporting smallholder farmers?
