At the 25th edition of FICCI FRAMES in Mumbai — marking the silver jubilee of India’s premier media-and-entertainment convention — Shri Sanjay Jaju, Secretary, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB), called on industry leaders to innovate responsibly, invest with confidence, and inspire through ethical storytelling. He highlighted that India’s media and entertainment sector has expanded from ₹25,000 crore (1999) to over ₹2.5 trillion (USD 30 billion in 2025), driven by digital innovation and youth enterprise. Emerging segments such as AVGC–XR (Animation, Visual Effects, Gaming, Comics, and Extended Reality) are growing above 30 percent annually, while live entertainment has become a ₹20,000-crore industry.
Government initiatives including WAVES (World Audio Visual and Entertainment Summit), WAVEX (WAVEXcelerator for creative startups), and the Indian Institute of Creative Technologies (IICT) aim to strengthen skills, innovation, and global collaborations in the creative economy. A Joint Working Group is developing a roadmap to position India among the world’s top five live entertainment destinations by 2030. At the inaugural session, Shri Ashish Shelar, Maharashtra’s Minister for Culture and IT, underscored support for regional cinema and local voices under the Maharashtra Film Policy.
The 2025 edition frames India’s creative industries as a strategic growth engine for both domestic jobs and soft power projection, advancing the country’s Orange Economy agenda through public-private collaboration and global market integration.
