The Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship (MSDE) has announced the third edition of Kaushal Mahotsav – Lucknow 2025, scheduled for 16-17 September at Colvin Taluqdars’ College Grounds, Lucknow. Over 35,000 opportunities have been identified nationally, with more than 7,500 job and apprenticeship positions earmarked specifically for Lucknow. These roles span 20+ sectors including Automotive, Electronics, Logistics, BFSI, Healthcare, Aerospace, and Green Jobs. The event will particularly focus on apprenticeships for ITI pass-outs, diploma holders, and graduates, with more than 6,900 apprenticeship roles set aside for these categories. Central PSUs in the defence sector (such as BHEL, HAL, BEL etc.) will also participate, improving the industry-linkage component of the fair.
The Mahotsav’s focus is policy-relevant in that it operationalizes India’s skill development agenda, strengthens youth employability, and supports state-centre collaboration. Such large-scale, sector-diverse apprenticeship opportunities can help reduce skill mismatches, support the transition to green and tech-driven sectors, and contribute to Viksit Bharat 2047 goals. Maintaining equity (urban/rural, gender), monitoring wage and training standards, and ensuring long-term absorption of apprenticeship trainees into productive employment will be crucial.
Relevant question for policy stakeholders: How can India ensure that the expanded apprenticeship and job opportunities announced at events like Kaushal Mahotsav translate into sustainable employment and not just temporary recruitment spikes?
