The Ministry of Education has launched Viksit Bharat Buildathon 2025, Indiaβs largest live innovation movement for school students, aimed at integrating hands-on learning, design thinking, and problem-solving into everyday education. The initiative, inaugurated by Union Education Minister Shri Dharmendra Pradhan in New Delhi, brought together over 1 crore students from 3 lakh schools who participated simultaneously in a two-hour nationwide ideation and prototyping challenge.
Centred on the themes of Atmanirbhar Bharat, Swadeshi, Vocal for Local, and Samriddhi, the Buildathon encouraged students from classes 6 to 12 to conceptualise local innovations that address community needs. More than 150 remote and aspirational-district schools joined live spotlights, demonstrating the expanding reach of digital and innovation ecosystems in rural India.
The Buildathon operationalises key goals of the National Education Policy 2020 by embedding innovation and creativity in school curricula, bridging ruralβurban divides in access to maker learning, and nurturing the next generation of innovators aligned with the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047.
What is the Viksit Bharat Buildathon (VBB)? β The Viksit Bharat Buildathon is a live, theme-based innovation challenge for classes 6β12, organised under the Ministry of Education to foster creativity, teamwork, and practical problem-solving.
