Bharat Buildcon 2026 Announced to Boost Construction Exports, Manufacturing, and Global Partnerships
SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth
SDG 9: Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure
Institution: Ministry of Commerce & Industry
The Ministry of Commerce & Industry has announced Bharat Buildcon 2026, a flagship international exhibition to showcase India’s building and construction materials sector. The launch highlights the sector’s scale—valued at over USD 1 trillion and employing millions—and its role in supporting exports and domestic demand. The exhibition will bring together 37 allied sectors, including cement, ceramics, tiles, paints, hardware, and electricals, positioning India as a competitive hub for high-quality, sustainable construction products.
Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal emphasized the need for “Zero Defect, Zero Effect” manufacturing, combining quality with environmental responsibility. He reiterated government support for industry growth through Free Trade Agreements, diversification into alternative markets, and tax reforms such as GST, while urging companies to embody the ethos of “Daam Kam, Dum Zyaada” (lower cost, higher value). Bharat Buildcon is projected to catalyze global collaborations, attract investment, and strengthen India’s construction supply chains.
The announcement signals India’s intent to align industrial expansion with sustainability, export competitiveness, and resilient supply chains, making the construction sector a key driver of future growth.
