The Ministry of Statistics & Programme Implementation has released the Annual Survey of Industries (ASI) 2023–24 findings, revealing strong performance across key industrial indicators. Gross Value Added (GVA) rose by 11.89% in current prices over the previous year, while industrial output increased by over 5.8%. Employment in the sector grew by 5.92%, adding to cumulative job creation of more than 57 lakh over the past decade (2014‑15 to 2023‑24).
Leading contributors to GVA included basic metals, motor vehicles, chemicals & chemical products, food products, and pharmaceuticals. On employment, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, and Karnataka emerged as top states.
Overall, the data signals not only quantitative growth in industrial output and value addition, but also sustained expansion in workforce engagement, indicating strengthening industrial resilience and inclusive job growth across states.
