SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being

The Asian Development Bank has launched the Universal Health Coverage Practitioners and Experts Knowledge Exchange and Resources (UHC PEERS), a regional peer-to-peer learning network aimed at accelerating universal health coverage across Asia and the Pacific.
The network aims to fill a gap in regional health cooperation by enabling countries to share solutions on extending coverage to underserved populations.
More than one billion people in the region still lack access to basic health services, and health expenses continue to push millions into poverty.
UHC PEERS will complement the existing UHC Knowledge Hub in Tokyo by facilitating exchanges on health-financing reforms, service delivery innovations, reaching remote populations, integrating private sector providers, and developing sustainable financing.
ADB President Masato Kanda emphasised the macroeconomic rationale, noting that every US$1 invested in primary health care can yield up to US$10 in economic growth.
Relevant question for policy stakeholders: How can India utilize a UHC PEERSโstyle peer learning platform to enhance its national health system - particularly in areas like remote healthcare access, publicโprivate integration, and sustainable financing - while generating mutual benefits through SouthโSouth cooperation?
